Some reflections on technical debt and lean development

September 26, 2019

I was exposed to the concept of technical debt a ways back. But, as with most things you pick up as you work, my understanding was too simplistic. I hadn't thought about the difference between decisions that rack up tecnhical debt and decisions that put off inessential work until later. I also hadn't thought about how some short-term compromises can effectively stand in for "real work", much as scaffolding can hold up strucures as they are built. I've recently examined these ideas, though, and I have some reflections to offer.

More to come...
